Matthew Mitchell Introductory Press Conference Scheduled for Tuesday

Press conference to take place at noon inside the Fertitta Center
HOUSTON – University of Houston Athletics will officially introduce Women's Basketball Head Coach Matthew Mitchell at a press conference at noon, Tuesday, in the Fertitta Center. The event is free and open to the public.
Doors are scheduled to open at 11:30 a.m., with the press conference scheduled to start at noon. Fans are encouraged to enter Fertitta Center through the Judy and David Marrs Club Entry located on Holman Street. Free parking for fans in attendance will be available in Lot 16B from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Mitchell, a three-time SEC Coach of the Year who boasts 30 years of coaching experience, was named the eighth coach in University of Houston Women's Basketball history on Thursday.
Mitchell comes to the University of Houston after coaching from 2007-20 at Kentucky, where he led the Wildcats to 10 20+ win seasons and seven 25+ win seasons. His resume includes nine NCAA tournament appearances, three runs to the Elite Eight and five trips to the Sweet Sixteen. Mitchell remains the winningest head coach in program history with 303 career wins at the helm of the Wildcats.
Under Mitchell's leadership at Kentucky, he coached five SEC Player of the Year selections, 21 All-SEC honorees and produced six WNBA draft picks, including Rhyne Howard, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft.
