
Track & Field Posts Two Wins, Multiple Top Finishes on Friday

Anthony Trucks, Ty Lott secure Friday victories
HOUSTON and AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Houston Track & Field program wrapped a busy day of action at the Victor Lopez Invitational at Rice and at Texas Relays in Austin, earning two victories, two second-place finishes, four third-place finishes on Friday.
TEXAS RELAYS
In Austin, the Cougars won one event, earned one third-place finish and secured four qualifications in three event finals scheduled for Saturday.
Junior hurdler Anthony Trucks won the men's 110-meter hurdles timed final as he lowered his career best clocking 13.76.
In the women's 100-meter hurdles timed final, junior Kaycee McCoy was third to cross the finish line with a time of 13.75.
Seniors Jamar Marshall Jr. and John Adesola qualified for the men's 110-meter hurdles final with times of 13.63 and 13.74, respectively. Marshall Jr.'s performance ranks him ninth on Houston's all-time performance list.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team featuring junior Ryan Mulholland, sophomore Cayden Broadnax, senior Brice Chabot and freshman Germain Smith-Mata qualified for Saturday's final scheduled for 1:30 p.m., with a time of 40.05.
Houston secured a spot in the men's 4x400-meter relay scheduled for 4:35 p.m., Saturday, as freshmen Prentice Sanders, Sahfi Reed, King Taylor and senior Trey East III ran the second-fastest qualifying time at 3:07.07.
VICTOR LOPEZ INVITATIONAL
Redshirt freshman Ty Lott won the men's hammer throw on his fourth attempt with a personal best mark of 58.64m. He moved up to fifth on Houston's all-time list with his performance.
In the women's hammer throw, junior Zaeda Houff placed second with her mark of 50.32m. Freshman Marcela Trevino posted a third-place finish with a personal best mark of 50.03m to move to ninth on Houston's all-time list.
Freshman Zade Kayyali secured second place in the men's 5000m with a time of 14:37.98 while junior Miles Cox followed in third at 14:38.95.
On the women's side, freshman Cadence Patterson earned a third-place finish in the 5000m as she clocked a time of 17:27.33.
