Cougars to compete as team at Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club starting Sunday; Individuals tee off at Colin Montgomerie Invitational in Sugar Land on Monday

CABO SAN LUCAS, BCS, Mexico & SUGAR LAND, Texas – The University of Houston Men's Golf program will compete in a pair of tournaments this weekend.

As a team, the Cougars will compete at the Cabo Collegiate, which begins at 9:30 a.m. (CST) at Twin Dolphin Club. Houston will compete in 18 holes each day through Tuesday.

In addition, four individuals will tee off at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational, hosted by Houston Christian at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas. That tournament features 36 holes Monday with the Final Round beginning Tuesday.

ABOUT the COUGARS
For the Cabo Collegiate, Houston will be represented by senior Wolfgang Glawe, sophomore Chi Chun Chen, junior Hudson Weibel, senior Laurenz Schiergen and junior Bryant Hiskey II.

After his performance at the UHV Claud Jacobs Invitational earlier this week, Hiskey moved into the team lead with a 71.00 scoring average. The Houston native and Lamar High School product posted three straight rounds of par or lower, including a career-low 67 in the First Round, and lost on the second hole of a playoff with a score of 8-under 20-8.

Weibel stands second among the Cougars with a 71.50 scoring average. The Dallas native has posted Top-Five finishes in two of his last three tournaments and compiled a 3-1-1 record at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament in October 2024.

For the Colin Montgomerie Invitation, the Cougars will be represented by senior Jacob Borow, junior Ruben Lindsay, freshman Hsuan-Yi Chen and sophomore Grant Doggett.

Lindsay, Chen and Doggett also competed as individuals at the UHV Claud Jacobs Invitational at Victoria Country Club in Victoria, Texas, earlier this week with all three earning career-best Top-Eight finishes.

TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete in a 14-team field featuring Arizona State, Stanford, Texas Tech, Mississippi, California, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt, Rice, Arizona, Tennessee, Florida State, Baylor and host Arkansas.

For the Colin Montgomerie Invitational, Houston's individuals will compete against student-athletes from North Dakota, Weber State, UIW, Central Michigan, Missouri State, Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls, Prairie View A&M, East Texas A&M, New Mexico Junior College, Texas Southern, Abilene Christian and Blinn College.

UP NEXT
Following the Cabo Collegiate, the Cougars return to Houston to play host to their All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston in. Humble, Texas, on March 17-18.

From there, Houston hosts its final tournament of the season at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational, set for March 24-25 at Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City.

The Cougars then close their regular-season slate when they tee off at the Thunderbird Intercollegiate at Papago Golf Club in Tempe, Ariz., on April 11-12.
