Soccer Drops Big 12 Home Opener to Arizona State

Houston heads to Waco, Texas, to face Baylor at 1 p.m., Sunday
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Soccer team dropped its Big 12 Conference home opener, 2-0 to Arizona State at the Carl Lewis International complex on Thursday evening.
Houston (3-4-1, 0-2 Big 12) heads to Waco, Texas, on Sunday for a battle with Baylor. Kick off is set for 1 p.m. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available here.
Arizona State (6-1-2, 1-1 Big 12) struck in the 35th minute as Megan Solfied and Lucy Johnson found Kierra Blundell whose shot ricocheted off the side post and past sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Dietrich.
The Sun Devils doubled their lead in the 68th minute on a penalty kick as Blundell found the back of the net for the brace.
Houston posted 11 shots on the night with junior forward Cameryn Maddox with six including three of them on target to lead the team.
Dietrich recorded seven saves on the evening to pass Susan Barra for eighth place in career saves. The Broomfield, Colorado, native now has 123 saves in her career.
