Arbolida Leads Cougars Past Mavericks

Arbolida notches third multi-home run game this season, second of weekend in win
Arbolida smoked two 400+ foot home runs on a cloudy Sunday afternoon, moving into the team lead with 12 home runs this season. The Cougars are on pace for 81 home runs, two off the school record 83 set in 1986.
Houston (22-22) scored a pair of runs in the first inning on a pair of back-to-back singles by the corner outfielders Ace Reese and Arbolida.
Arbolida's three-run home run in the third inning gave Houston the lead at 6-2 after UT Arlington (18-26) had tied the game in the top of the third on a solo home run.
The senior hit his second home run of the game in the fifth inning.
Second baseman Harold Coll extended his team-leading RBI total to 47 after an RBI double in the sixth and an RBI single in the eighth.
Five different Cougars had multi-hit games while Arbolida drove in a career-high five RBI on three hits.
Left-handed starter Antoine Jean (3-2) notched his third win of the season after working 5.1 innings in back-to-back outings with six strikeouts. The Montreal, Canada, native picked up his first win since May 9 against Baylor and has thrown 90+ pitches in consecutive starts.
In a career-long 3.2 innings of relief, José Torrealba allowed just one hit and struck out one for his third save of the season.
