Men’s Golf Finishes Second at White Sands WVU Invitational

Junior Hudson Weibel fires third straight round in 60s to earn second-place showing at Ocean Club
PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Four University of Houston Men's Golfers fired 69s to lead the Cougars to a second-place team finish at the White Sands WVU Invitational at Ocean Club Golf Course on Sunday.
Junior Hudson Weibel, senior Wolfgang Glawe, senior Jacob Borow and sophomore Chi Chun Chen each finished with their 3-under scores on the 6,943-yard, par-72 course to lead the Cougars to the day's second-lowest round at 276 and a second-place finish a score of 40-under 824.
It was Houston's second Top-Two team finish during the fall season, equaling the mark from the season-opening Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La., on Sept. 8-10.
Weibel posted his third straight rounds in the 60s on the 6,943-yard, par-72 course and finished second with a three-day total of 16-under 200. The Dallas native drained four birdies in a six-hole stretch on his second nine.
After tying a Houston record with a 63 in the First Round on Friday, Glawe finished with his own 69 Sunday and finished fourth at 12-under 204, thanks to three birdies and an eagle.
Borow tied for 13th with a score of 210 with five birdies and an eagle on his Final-Round scorecard while Chen tied for 25th at 214. Playing as an individual, junior Ruben Lindsay tied for 35th at 217 with senior Laurenz Schiergen tying for 38th at 218.
Charleston won the team title with a score of 814 while Ball State (838), Maryland (842) and West Virginia (847) rounded out the Top-Five leaders.
Charleston's Kieron Van Wyk earned medalist honors with a score of 195 while Eastern Michigan's Tim Chan finished third at 202.
Charleston's Nevill Ruiter joined Glawe in a tie for fourth at 204 while Yang Kuang (Maryland) and Carter Smith (Ball State) tied for sixth at 205.

Following the White Sands Invitational, Houston will take its holiday break before opening the spring season at the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas, on Feb. 17-18, 2025.
The Cougars then compete at the Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on March 2-4, 2025, before returning home to play host to their All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston on March 17-18, 2025.
