Men’s Golf Releases 2026-27 Schedule

Fall campaign begins at Jackson T. Stephens Cup on September 14-16
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Men's Golf program released its 2026-27 schedule, featuring five fall tournaments and six in the spring, Mike Booker Head Coach Andrew Danna announced Tuesday.This season's slate shows the Cougars competing in eight states with four regular-season events in the Lone Star State.
FALL SEASON
The Cougars open the season when they compete at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup at Fields Rach East – PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas, on September 14-16,
From there, Houston will compete at the NB3 Match Play against New Mexico, New Mexico State and NC State at Twin Warriors Golf Club in Pueblo, N.M., on September 30 before teeing off at the Big 12 Match Play at Salt Lake Country Club in Salt Lake City on October 12-14.
Following the Abilene Christian Intercollegiate at Halbert National in Granbury, Texas, on October 19-21, the Cougars will close the fall campaign in Hawai'i at the Ka'anapali Classic at Ka'anapali Golf Resort on October 26-28.
SPRING SEASONHouston returns from its holiday break to start the spring season at the N.I.T. at Omni Tucson National Resort in Tucson, Ariz., on February 1-2.
From there, the Cougars will play host to three straight tournaments, starting with the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas, on February 15-16. A year ago, Houston swept the team and individual titles at this event as Hudson Weibel claimed his third medalist honor of the season.
Houston will welcome Boise State, Denver, HCU, Illinois State, Lamar, Louisiana, Miami (Ohio), New Mexico State, Sam Houston, Tarleton State, UT Rio Grande Valley and Wright State to the tournament.
From there, the Cougars return home to play host to the All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston on March 15-16 in Humble, Texas. Houston will be part of an 18-team field, which features Abilene Christian, Cal Poly, HCU, Lamar, Long Island, Mississippi State, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston, Tarleton State, Texas State, Tulsa, UIW, ULM, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley and Yale.
The homestand ends with one of the nation's premier collegiate events. The Cougars welcome Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rice, South Florida, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, USC and Wake Forest to the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at Floridian National Golf Club on March 22-23.
The tournament hosts the nation's top collegiate programs with 13 of the Top 35 competing a year ago.
Following the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., on April 3-4, the Cougars close the regular season when they tee off at the Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif., on April 12-14.
POSTSEASON
With the conclusion of the regular season, the Cougars shift their attention to the postseason, which begins April 26-28 during the Big 12 Championship at The Covey at Big Easy Ranch in Columbus, Texas.
The winner of the postseason event earns the league's automatic big to the NCAA Regionals.
NCAA Regional play will be held May 17-19 at six venues across the nation. Those sites include Pfau Golf Course (Bloomington, Ind.; hosted by Indiana); Tennessee National Golf Club (Loudon, Tenn.; hosted by Tennessee); The Rawls Golf Course (Lubbock, Texas; hosted by Texas Tech); Chin Southern Dunes (Maricopa, Ariz.; hosted by Arizona); TPC Myrtle Beach (Murrells Inlet, S.C.; hosted by Coastal Carolina/Myrtle Beach Regional Sports Alliance) and Karsten Creek Golf Club (Stillwater, Okla.; hosted by Oklahoma State).
The top teams and individuals from each NCAA Regional advance to the NCAA Championships, set for the North Course at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif, on May 28-June 2.
ABOUT the COUGARS
Danna became the eighth coach in the history of the program with his hiring in June.
As a head coach at Florida Gulf Coast (2019-26), NCAA Division II Lynn (2012-18) and Georgia Southwestern (2010-12), Danna led his teams to a combined 32 team titles, including the 2018 NCAA Division II national championship with Lynn, and produced 33 All-Conference honorees.
For his team's impressive performance in his final season at Lynn, Danna was named the 2018 NCAA Division II Dave Williams National Coach of the Year. Williams was the long-time head coach at Houston from 1952 to 1986 and won 16 NCAA national titles and 342 tournament championships during his Hall of Fame career.
Danna was a four-time Atlantic Sun Conference Coach of the Year with Florida Gulf Coast (2026, 2025, 2022, 2021) and was honored as the Sunshine State Coach of the Year with Lynn in 2017 and 2016. He was recognized as the Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year in 2012 during his final season at Georgia Southwestern.
Seniors Grant Doggett and Chi Chun Chen return as the leading performers from the 2025-26 team, which advanced to the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional in North Carolina in May, the program's sixth straight NCAA Regional postseason appearance.
Chen finished second on the team with a 71.59 scoring average and 19 rounds of par or lower and fired a career-low 64 in the Final Round of the Argent Financial Classic to help lead the Cougars to the season-opening team title.
Doggett was a close third on the team with a 71.70 average and 18 rounds of par or better and claimed the first medalist honor of his career at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, thanks to a 54-hole score of 15-under 201.
They are two of seven Cougars returning in 2026-27 with that group including junior Hsuan-Yi Chen, sophomore Jayk Altic, senior Enrique Karg, sophomore Dominic Green and senior Nico Aulicino.
In addition to those veterans, Houston will be boosted by the addition of freshman Miles Wennestam as well as transfer newcomers Sacha Ruiz, Brett Moore and Sebastian Gamboa, each from Florida Gulf Coast.
