Soccer Drops Conference Contest in Greenville

Cougars set to face Memphis on Thursday
GREENVILLE, North Carolina – The University of Houston Soccer program dropped its first American Athletic Conference matchup of the season to East Carolina, 1-0 Thursday evening from Johnson Stadium.
The Cougars (4-4-1, 1-1-0 American) looked to get on the board in the second minute of the match following a shot by midfielder Adriana Hutson off of a corner kick that was ultimately deflected by an East Carolina defender.
East Carolina (7-3-1, 2-0-0 American) sealed the victory in the 68th minute with a goal by Jazmin Ferguson, assisted by Sierra Lowery.
Although Houston was outshot 6-3, both teams recorded one shot on goal. The Cougars racked up seven corner kicks to the five that East Carolina recorded.
Goalkeeper Haley Woodward and defenders Emma Clarke, Taylor Garza-Freeman and Addie Tate were the four Cougars to play all 90 minutes of action.

The Cougars continue American Athletic Conference play on the road against Memphis at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29.
