Houston ends postseason run with loss to Alabama

The women's basketball team closed its season in Tuscaloosa
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Houston women's basketball team closed its 2021-22 season with a loss to Alabama 79-64 in the Sweet 16 of the WNIT on Thursday night.
Laila Blair led the team with 18 points to go with five rebounds, eight assists and two steals. Eryka Sidney and Tiara Young both added double-digit points at 12 and 10, respectively.
Despite an early 17-5 deficit, the Houston women's basketball team (18-16, 7-9) fought its way back in the second quarter.
The Cougars finished the first quarter behind by 12 points, but 28 points in the second boosted the Cougars. The two teams battled until the last minutes of the quarter when Alabama drained a trey to tie the game at 40-40 going into halftime.
The Cougars struggled through the third quarter connecting on only five points and finishing 62-46 in the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Houston strung together 3-pointers but it wasn't enough as the Cougars fell 79-64 to Alabama ending its postseason run.
