- The Cougars are seeking to begin their season 4-0 for the first time since 2001, when Houston started the year with a 7-0 mark. Houston's 3-0 record to open the year is its best since 2011.
- Junior outside hitter Megan Duncan was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll after receiving tournament MVP honors at the UNO Invitational. In the Cougars' undefeated opening-weekend, Duncan slammed home 47 kills, averaging 4.27 kills per set, while posting at least a .270 hitting percentage in all three matches.
- Also earning All-Tournament honors was freshman Kendall Haywood, who in her first collegiate games, quickly made her mark as an impact player. Competing in all three matches, Haywood became a force to be reckoned with on defense as the 14.0 blocks she recorded was more than any of her teammates.
- Between senior Katie Krebs and sophomore Abby Irvine, the two setters have managed Houston's offensive effectively as each player is averaging over four assists a set, with Irvine approaching the seven assist mark (6.91 a/s). Combined, the duo is handing out 11.27 assists per set, helping the Cougars rank in the top third of the conference in that category (4th, 13.00 a/s).
- Junior libero Katie Karbo has shown her strength in the back row thus far this season, leading the team in digs (39) and digs per set (3.55). Her 3.55 digs per set are amongst the best in the conference, ranking 10th.
