Houston Drops Road Contest at No. 24 UCF

Cougars to return home for regular-season finale
ORLANDO – The University of Houston Soccer team wasn't able to overcome three second half goals in a 3-0 loss to No. 24 UCF on Sunday afternoon at the UCF Soccer Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cougars will return to the Carl Lewis Complex for their final regular-season match of the season against in-state rival SMU. First kick is slated for 7 p.m. on Oct. 26.
CELEBRATING 20 YEARS
The Houston Soccer program is excited to celebrate 20 years of Houston soccer this season. The team unveiled a logo on June 14 that represents 20 years of Houston soccer. The logo is featured on one of the three uniforms that the Cougars will wear throughout the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars came out strong defensively, holding a No. 24 UCF team that has 14 first half goals scoreless. Both teams would go into the break tied 0-0.
- The Knights would score three times in the second period with their first goal coming inside the 58th minute on a header following a corner kick.
- Eleven minutes later UCF would score off a shot from the top left corner of the 18-yard box, and UCF's final goal would come off a rebound from a shot that was initially blocked.
- Houston posted eight total shots, two of which came from Desiree Bowen. Seven Cougars recorded shots during the match.
- Rachel Estopare played every minute in goal for the Cougars, recording three saves on 19 shots faced.
- Houston drops to 7-9-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the American Athletic Conference.
- The Cougars are currently sixth in The American women's soccer standings with one game remaining on the schedule. FULL STANDINGS
