PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Houston Sophomore Rachel Estopare was named the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Over the weekend, Estopare earned a win and draw while collecting eight saves without allowing a goal in 200 minutes played. The Bend, Ore., native captured her third consecutive shutout and is 2-0-1 on the season.
In her first road appearance for the Cougars the Arizona transfer collected three saves during her 90 minutes in the net against Incarnate Word on Friday.
On Sunday at Texas State, Estopare spent all 110 minutes between the posts and finished with a season-best five saves.
"To be able to get two shutouts on the road is incredible," Head Coach Chris Pfau said. "Our defenders, midfielders and backs have done a great job limiting teams of scorer opportunities, but when they do get them, Rachel has come up huge. Having Rachel in the goal has given us confidence to get our backs into the attack knowing that if we do make a mistake, she is back there to protect them. She has been a great presence for us in goal."
