On the Cougars
Houston recently notched its 100th victory in program history with a 9-0 win over Texas Southern. In the victory, Cougar goalkeeper Cami Koski recorded her 10th career shutout.
Previous Outing
The Cougars' offense opened up early in the match, starting in the first minute when freshman Sharis Lachappelle fired a shot past the TSU keeper after a midfield pass from Katelyn Rhodes. Jasmine Martinez then followed in the fourth minute. After linking up with Kylie Cook and Lachappelle, Martinez found herself in directly in front of Tiger keeper Rebecca Hajney and capitalized off her scoring opportunity, putting Houston up 2-0.
The third goal of the night came from freshman Alexis Weaver. Following a pass from Martinez, the West Covina, Calif., native found herself one-on-one with the keeper, and used some shifty moves to force the TSU keeper off her feet, leaving a free shot into the back of the net.
Senior forward Jessica Zavalza and Morgan Vela added goals in the 17th and 30th minutes, putting the Cougars up 5-0 to end the first half.
Houston added another goal in the 58th minute for a 6-0 lead. Zavalza and Lachappelle executed a give-and-go on the left wing for Zavalza's fourth goal of the season. The scoring continued as Cook scored on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute. Kelsey Zamora then added two goals in the 85th and 88th minutes, bringing the final score to 9-0.
The nine goals scored by Houston were the most scored in a single game since 2005, when the Cougars scored 10 goals against Nicholls State.
Scouting HBU
HBU (4-3-0) will be rebounding from an overtime thriller against Grambling State on Friday in Grambling, La. Houston Baptist's Amina Radoncic's header in the first overtime led HBU to a 2-1 victory over GSU.

Another player to watch for the Huskies will be Natalie Hager, who has registered three goals on nine shot attempts this season.
