WASHINGTON, D.C. - The University of Houston women's basketball team fell to 14th-ranked Georgetown by a score of 66-36 Saturday afternoon at McDonough Arena.
The Cougars were held back by another slow start, falling behind by a score of 22-2 in the first 10 minutes en route to a halftime deficit of 39-9.
Houston matched the Hoyas (2-2) in the second half, as each team scored 27 points, while the Cougars outrebounded Georgetown by a 25-22 margin in the final 20 minutes.
Senior Roxana Button led Houston with 10 points, marking her third-straight game of double-double scoring for the first time since late in the 2009-10 season.
Fellow senior Porsche Landry added nine points before leaving the contest with an injury.
Freshmen Terran Alford and Tahlia Pope both scored their first points in a Houston uniform, as Alford finished with five points and a team-leading seven rebounds while Pope posted six points and three boards.
Houston returns to action to play host to Oral Roberts at 5 p.m., Tuesday at Hofheinz Pavilion.
