HEAD COACH Todd Buchanan
On the last 10.8 seconds of the game...
"To be honest, the only thing that could come back to my mind was the SMU game a year ago. That's what was going through my mind trying to go offense to defense. I thought that SMU and here we go again and we are going to get it done."
On feelings on Porsche's jump shot not being reviewed...
"The new rule is that when we have no time outs, on a review like that, if they go back on a coach's request and it is reviewed and it's not a three, then it is a technical foul. That is the new rule. We were not in a situation where I could roll the dice in any form or fashion. We had a great crew tonight. I feel confident that he made the right call. There is no way I could allow us with not at least a chance and a technical foul."
On how the game played out...
"My heart breaks for Porsche. She is a great kid and the heart and soul of this basketball team. Yesterday was her first day at practice in over a week after recovering from an injury. This kid showed more guts in the last few weeks than most kids show in their career. I think that is important for everyone to understand. I am always going to take that blame. I am always going to protect players and staff, that's what family does.
"If we walk back out on the court, I am going to put Porsche on the free-throw line. That is never going to change. My belief in her will never change. My biggest thing is that we have to find a way to use this as motivation to get better. We have to have other kids step up and be more consistent. If we can have a couple more step up and be consistent and help Rox and Porsche, then we have a chance."
On the breakdown of the game...
"I never felt like we had the game in hand. The game was never over with. I felt calm and collective at times like we were in control. I just felt like we couldn't make a shot and they got on a run. Our defense was letting us down because they got most of those points from the foul line. That is where we cannot let down from a mental standpoint. I felt like our mental toughness disappeared for a while and that is what really cost us."
SENIOR POINT GUARD Porsche Landry
On emotions on the jump shot and at the free-throw line...
"I have to say the same as Coach; the SMU game came to mind. It was all replaying and adrenaline was rushing. I was just happy to be in the game."
On what were the thoughts going through her mind at the free-throw line...
"To be honest, nothing was going through my mind. I was just concentrating on shooting the ball."
On missing the free-throw...
"It was really disappointing. It would have been great to go in overtime and try to redeem myself. You win some and lose some."
On how she felt physically in the game...
"It was tough because I usually never cramp in a game. It hurt. I just had to walk it off and pull through it so I could get back in the game."
On positive things to take away from tonight...
"Our confidence is getting better. It showed on the court. As a team we fought, we were talking and played good defense. We are growing and we are young. We take it day-by day."
