MANHATTAN, Kan. - The University of Houston women's basketball team closes out a season-long four-game road trip on Friday and Saturday at the Commerce Bank Wildcat Classic in Manhattan, Kan.
The Cougars are 1-3, having dropped a game Wednesday night to Creighton, 76-59, in Omaha, Neb. The Cougars are led by Sha'Ratta Hawkins (18.8 ppg/3.0 spg) and Ryan Meyers (10.0 ppg/7.3 rpg).
Hawkins had her second 20-point game of the season against CU on Wednesday, tallying a game-high 23 points.
UH faces off against Saint Joseph's at 3 p.m. CST on Friday and will face either the host Wildcats or Texas Pan-American on Saturday at either 3 p.m. (Championship) or 5 p.m. (Consolation).
The Breakdown ...
UH is attempting to replace four starters and eight letterwinners from a year ago. See how they rank in terms of numbers against their opponents.
The Cougars have used two different starting lineups thus far this season with varying degrees of success.
Freshman Sha'Ratta Hawkins has been impressive in her first four collegiate games, leading UH in scoring.
Sophomore Ryan Meyers is averaging nearly a double-double this year.
UH is trying to avoid its worst start to a season since 1999-2000. That year, the Cougars started 2-8 in their first 10 games and went on to finish the campaign at 7-21 (3-13 C-USA).
The Cougars return home for the first time in nearly a month on Dec. 10 with a scheduled matchup with West Virginia at 5:30 p.m. in Hofheinz Pavilion.
