Lady Cougar Basketball Wins over Tulane 55-54

The Lady Cougar basketball team pulled out a win against Tulane in the Cougars first C-USA appearance this season 55- 54.
The Lady Cougars were lead by Senior Center Kiki Harris with 17 points and 10 rebounds, her third double-double on the season.. Senior Guard Joann Overstreet had an impressive 9 steals, and 11 points, while Sancho Lyttle posted her 10th double double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The game was exteremly fast-paced and exciting. The lead changed back and forth between the Lady Cougars and the Green Wave 18 times. Houston posted 13 second chance points while the Green Wave only had 3, and the score was tied 13 times.
Tulane was lead by Senior Forward Lakethia Hampton , C-USA player of the week ( Jan 3) with an impressive 24 points.
While the Lady Cougars were only shooting 31%, they still managed to in the final minute of the game.. Freshman Guard Jasmine Moore hit a jumper with a minute left to play to give the Lady Cougars the lead 53-52. That was followed by a layupTulane's
Senior Forward Lakethia Hampton to put the score at 54-53. Then Moore sprinted down the court and made a jumper with 00:13 left to play. Sancho Lyttle rebounded the ball after Tulane's Junior Guard D'Aundrea Henry missed a jumper with 0:01 left on the clock to give the Lady Cougars the win
Coach Joe Curl said " We got something tonight that no one can take away from us. We have to win this conferece 1/14 at a time. Tonight we got the first 1/14. Even though it was an ugly win, a win is a win.. Now we have to gear up to face Southern Miss."
The Lady Cougars travel to Hattiesburgh, MS to face Southern Miss. on Sunday Jan. 10, 2005.
