Zz Gore joined the University of Houston Athletics Department in January 2016 as assistant director for sports performance. She works closely with the Houston Football, Volleyball and Swimming and Diving program.
In her role, she writes, organizes, and lead teams through lifting and conditioning sessions to minimize injuries and increase athletic potential.
She joined the Cougars after serving for nearly two years at Mississippi State. There, she was the strength and conditioning coach for the softball, volleyball and women's tennis teams. In her time with the Bulldogs, the softball team set a single-season record with 54 home runs, while the volleyball program clinched its first winning season since 2006.
A native of Cincinnati, Gore served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at the Montana from 2012 to 2014. She was the primary strength coach for the women's golf, cheerleading and cross country teams and assisted with the football, men's and women's basketball, volleyball and soccer programs.
She served as a sports performance summer intern at Cincinnati in 2013 and at Notre Dame in 2001 and was a volunteer sports performance coach at Purdue during the 2011-12 season.
As a undergraduate, Gore competed for Purdue's track and field team for two seasons before suffering a career-ending injury in 2010.
Gore -- whose given name is Elizabeth but prefers to go by Zz -- received her master's degree in health and human performance from Montana in 2014 and earned a bachelor's degree in health and fitness from Purdue in 2011.
