Weinzirl Tabbed New Head of Ticket Operations, Sales, Service

One of the top ticketing minds in college athletics joins Houston from Arkansas
HOUSTON – Jason Weinzirl has been hired as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Ticket Operations, Sales and Service and will begin immediately, Athletics Director Eddie Nuñez announced on Monday.
Weinzirl joins Houston from Arkansas where he served for nearly five years in two different roles, most recently as Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Sales and Operations.
In his last role at Arkansas, Weinzirl led operational and revenue initiatives that exceeded annual ticket sales revenue goals by $2.3 million in 2026 and $7.6 million in 2025.
The Kansas graduate has experience in both ticket sales and ticket operations and will be joining his fifth Power 4 school with stops at Kansas, Florida State, Miami and Arkansas.
"My family and I are thrilled to join the University of Houston and become part of the Cougar family," Weinzirl said. "Houston has built tremendous momentum, and I am grateful to Alvin Franklin, Eddie Nuñez, and the leadership team for their confidence in me and the opportunity to build on that success. Ahead of the 2025 Arkansas men's basketball season, Weinzirl helped with a reseating initiative that improved donor seating equity, internal inventory workflows, and generated a $10 million increase in annual fund donations.

"Jason brings a proven track record in ticket operations, having served in various roles across four different Power 4 institutions throughout his career. His experience and diligent approach make him a vital addition to our team as we continue to raise the standard for our fans and grow our department here at the University of Houston."
Prior to his time at Arkansas, Weinzirl served at Miami for three years where he worked with their basketball and baseball programs in ticket operations.
"We are so excited to welcome Jason and his family to Houston," Chief Revenue Officer Alvin Franklin said. "His extensive background in all facets of ticketing and reputation for creativity really stood in the process. He will help us grow our fan base and be an elite leader for our ticket office."
Before his time in Coral Gables, Fla., Weinzirl worked as a ticket operations coordinator at Florida State.
Weinzirl began his career as a student intern at his alma mater Kansas in May 2013 and worked there through graduation in 2017. He holds a Bachelor of Science in sports management and a minor in business.
The St. Charles, Ill., native and his wife Addison have two daughters, Raya and Kira.
