Men’s Golf Finishes Third Round at Big 12 Championship

Final Round tees off Wednesday morning at Prairie Dunes Country Club
HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program wrapped up play in the Third Round of the Big 12 Championship presented by Allstate at Prairie Dunes Country Club on Tuesday evening.
The Cougars posted a team score of 294 in the Third Round and stood in 16th with a two-day, 54-hole score off 877 on the 6,966-yard, par-70 layout.
Senior Hudson Weibel stood in 20th with a score of 211 to lead the Cougars. Junior Chi Chun Chen was tied for 64th at 222 while sophomore Hsuan-Yi Chen was tied for 68th at 224. Junior Grant Doggett posted the team's low round of the day with a 71 and joined Hsuan-Yi Chen in a tie for 68th. Making his Big 12 Championship debut, freshman Jayk Altic was 71st a 228.
#5 Oklahoma State stood atop the team leaderboard at 19-under 821 to finish the Third Round nine strokes ahead of #20 Arizona. #36 TCU (839), #6 Texas Tech (841) and #38 Kansas (843) rounded out the Top-Five team leaders.
Oklahoma State's Preston Stout held the individual lead at 11-under 199. BYU's Kihei Akina stood in second at 201 while Kansas' William King was in third at 203. Arizona's Zach Pollo and Sergio Jimenz of Utah were tied for fourth at 206.
The tournament concludes with the Final Round teeing off Wednesday morning.
The winner of the league's annual postseason event earns an automatic bid to NCAA Regional play set for May 18-20 at six venues across the nation.
