Track & Field Collects Three Victories on Friday at Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational

Redshirt sophomore Ty Lott, sophomore Evina Panagiotou and graduate Canaan Wharry earn victories for the Cougars
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track & Field program collected three field event victories at the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational on Friday inside the Carl Lewis International Complex.

Redshirt senior Ty Lott had a standout performance, earning the first victory of the day in the men's hammer throw. Lott posted a personal best mark of 64.17m on his final attempt to move up to third on Houston's all-time performance list.

Houston had a strong showing in the women's pole vault. Sophomore Evina Panagiotou earned the victory with a season-best mark of 4.23m. Graduate Arianna Peroni, senior Aubrey Tupper, junior Nicole Prall and sophomore Kayla Byrd recorded a four-way tie for second place with their marks of 3.88m. Peroni and Byrd earned personal bests and are tied for eighth on Houston's all-time performance list.

Graduate Canaan Wharry recorded the final victory of the day in the men's discus. Wharry secured the victory on his first attempt with a mark of 55.02m.

Senior Reese Pokluda secured second place in the men's pole vault with a season best mark of 5.05m.

Senior Zaeda Houff placed second in the women's hammer throw with a personal mark of 58.21m.

Sophomore King Taylor placed second in the men's 400-meter with a time of 48.14 while sophomore Kali Magana placed third with a time of 55.38 in the women's 400-meter.

In the women's 100-meter hurdles prelims, senior Kaycee McCoy ran a wind-aided time of 13.08 (4.8+ m/s), and senior Madison Dominguez posted a time of 13.71 (4.8+ m/s) to qualify for Saturday's final.

Junior Jairius Burton and sophomore Noah Hanson were the two Cougars to qualify for the men's 110-meter hurdles final. In prelims, Burton crossed the finish line with a wind-aided time of 14.05 (3.9+ m/s) and Hanson crossed the finish line in 14.19.

Houston secured three spots in the women's 100-meter final and three in the men's 100-meter final. Junior Ruth Agadama ran a time of 11.47, senior Matilde Ochoa crossed the finish line in 11.66 and sophomore Taylor Jackson finished with a time of 11.83.

On the men's side, junior Jaelyn Reeves-Lile ran a personal best time of 10.32, senior Danarrion Ard clocked a time of 10.47 and sophomore Darius Rodgers earned the final spot with a time of 10.63.
