Houston Surges into Top 5 at All-American Intercollegiate

Cougars post round best three-under par to surge eight spots in the standings
HUMBLE, Texas – With better weather conditions than the first two rounds, the Houston Men's Golf team surged into the top 5 at the All-American Intercollegiate thanks to a round-best three-under 285 in the third and final round at the Golf Club of Houston on Tuesday.
Houston made 17 birdies on the day with juniors Grant Doggett and Chi Chun Chen posting 69 3-under par and 70 2-under par scorecards on the day, respectively. Both finished in the top 15 with Doggett surging 24 places to 15th and Chen moving up 10 places to 14th.
As a team, the Cougars moved up eight positions to fifth place, up from 13th following the first two rounds of competition in extremely windy conditions on Monday. Over all three rounds, Houston sunk 27 birdies and made par on 158 holes.
Redshirt senior Hudson Weibel and sophomore Hsuan-Yi Chen rounded out Houston's scoring four participants with Round 3 scorecards of one-over 73s across the 7,422-yard course. Weibel moved nine places into 30th and Hsuan-Yi moved up 11 spots to 37th.
In the Individual portion of the event, redshirt senior Bryant Hiskey II finished fourth overall following an even-par 72 final round. Redshirt freshman Dominic Green finished tied for 15th, freshman Jakub Janda finished tied for 18th, freshman Jayk Altic finished tied for 21st and redshirt senior Rueben Lindsey, junior Enrique Karg and redshirt freshman Nico Aulicino rounded out the field tied for 28th, 31st and 33rd, respectively.

Following the All-American Intercollegiate, Houston will play host to the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at Floridian National Golf Club on March 23-24. The event features one of the nation's top collegiate fields every year.
From there, the Cougars tee off at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., on April 4-5.
Houston closes the regular season at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, N.C., on April 11-12.
