Trio Boast Under-Par Rounds at Competitive Valspar Collegiate

Doggett paces Cougars 15-under team score with 4-under 36-hole day
PALM CITY, Fla. – The Houston Men's Golf team posted one of their best two rounds of golf so far this season when the Cougars tied for second with a 15-under after two rounds at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at the Floridian National Golf Course on Monday.
Junior Grant Doggett paced the Cougars with a 36-hole 4-under 138 over the 7,088-yard course in Palm City, Fla. Doggett shot 5-under in Round 1 with four birdies on the back nine and an eagle on No. 15.
Sophomore Hsuan-Yi Chen finished the day in tied for 31st with a 3-under day that included eight birdies and two eagles – both on No. 15.
Redshirt senior Hudson Weibel posted Houston's third sub-par day with a 2-under scorecard which included 10 birdies and an eagle on No. 7.
As a team, Houston's first round of 13-under was the fifth-best round of the morning. The Cougars three eagles was the second most in the field on Monday while their 24-under performance on par 5s ranked second in the tournament.
TEE TIMES
The Cougars will tee off at 7:30 a.m. ET with Doggett starting the day on No. 5. Chen will start on No. 6 with Weibel (No. 7), redshirt senior Bryant Hiskey II (No. 8) with junior Chi Chun Chen (No. 9) following.
