Team to compete at Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club; Individuals begin play at Claud Jacobs Invitational at Victoria Country Club
LAREDO & VICTORIA , Texas – The University of Houston Men's Golf program opens its 2026 spring season as a team when it plays host to the Border Olympics, beginning Monday morning at Laredo Country Club.The Cougars will play 36 holes Monday with the Final Round teeing off Tuesday morning on the 7,257-yard, par-72 course.
In addition to that team action, senior Ruben Lindsay and freshman Jakub Janda will compete as individuals at the Claud Jacobs Invitational at Victoria Country Club on Monday morning.
The Cougar duo will play 36 holes Monday with the Final Round on Tuesday .

ABOUT the COUGARS
For the Border Olympics, the Cougars will be represented by senior Hudson Weibel, junior Grant Doggett, junior Chi Chun Chen, sophomore Hsuan-Yi Chen and senior Kevin An. Senior Bryant Hiskey II, freshman Jayk Altic and junior Enrique Karg will compete as individuals.
Senior Ruben Lindsay and freshman Jakub Janda will compete as individuals at the Claud Jacobs Invitational.
This season, Weibel leads the Cougars with a 69.58 scoring average and 11 rounds of par or better in 12 total rounds. He captured individual titles at the Trinity Forest Invitational and the Argent Financial Classic during the fall and posted a career-low 64 in the Final Round of the Trinity Forest Invitational.Weibel is one of three Cougars to shoot 64s this season. Chen fired the team's first 64 during the Final Round of the Argent Financial Classic on September 9, 2025, while Hiskey most recently reached the milestone during the Final Round of the Houston Classic at Golf Club of Houston on Tuesday.
With that performance, Hiskey became the 19th Cougar to win the 28th individual championship during Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke's 17-year career.
Doggett stands second on the team with a 70.75 average with Hiskey moving into third among the Cougars at 71.56.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars at the Border Olympics will face Illinois State, HCU, UT Rio Grande Valley, Louisiana, New Mexico State, Tarleton State, Troy, Wichita State, Sam Houston, Lamar, North Texas and Wright State.
The Cougars at the Claud Jacobs Invitational will compete against student-athletes from Jarvis Christian, Texas Wesleyan, Texas A&M-San Antonio, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Louisiana Christian, Weatherford College, Texas A&M-Victoria, Central Christian College, New Mexico Military Institute, Blinn College and Texas A&M-Texarkana.

For Monday's Border Olympics action, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Illinois State, North Texas and Louisiana with an 8 a.m., shotgun start.
Doggett begins the day in the first group off No. 1 with Weibel (second group off No. 1), Chi Chun Chen (No. 2), Hsuan-Yi Chen (No. 3) and An (No. 4) following. Karg starts the tournament off No. 16 with Altic (No. 17) and Hiskey II (following).

For Monday's Claud Jacobs Invitational action, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Texas A&M-Victoria, Texas Wesleyan and Southeastern Oklahoma with an 8 a.m., shotgun start.
Lindsay begins the day at in the first group off No. 1 with Lindsay following in the second group off that hole.

UP NEXT
Following Border Olympics and Claud Jacobs Invitational, the Cougars travel to Mexico to compete as a team at the Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club in Cabo San Lucas on March 1-3.
Houston returns home to play host to its own All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas, on March 16-17.
The Cougars will face Rice, Abilene Christian, Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, HCU, Lamar, Nebraska, North Texas, Odessa College, Sam Houston, Tarleton State, ULM, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley and individuals from LSU.
