Senior posts third straight sub-par round to finish at 13-under 203 in first collegiate championship
HUMBLE & MONTGOMERY, Texas – University of Houston senior Bryant Hiskey claimed the first individual title of his collegiate career with a score of 13-under 203 during the Houston Classic at Golf Club of Houston on Tuesday afternoon.Entering the day with a 36-hole total of 133, Hiskey closed the two-day tournament with a score of 69 to finish two strokes ahead of Dallas Baptist's Samuel Jenkins.
Starting off No. 16 on the 7,422-yard, par-72 course, Hiskey drained seven straight pars before enduring a bogey on the par-4 fifth hole. Fortunately, that would be the only blemish on his scorecard for the rest of the day.
The Houston native moved under par with back-to-back birdies at Nos. 7-8 and added his final birdie of the tournament at No. 11 before sinking four straight pars.
Hiskey opened the tournament Monday morning with a 64, thanks to nine birdies and an eagle, in the First Round. He became the 13th Cougar in program history and the third this season to shoot 64 or lower in a round.
Junior teammate Chi Chun Chen fired a 64 during the Final Round of the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La., on September 9, 2025. Senior teammate Hudson Weibel enjoyed his own 64 in the Final Round of the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas on October 7, 2025.
With his title, Hiskey became the 18th Cougar to win the 28th individual championship under Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, who is his 17th year at Houston.
Competing in his first collegiate tournament, freshman Jakub Janda tied for 33rd at 226 while senior Ruben Lindsay tied for 76th at 236.
The Cougar trio at the Houston Classic was just one of two Houston Men's Golf groups competing Tuesday to open the spring season.
Freshman Jayk Altic tied for 43rd with a score of 220 while junior Enrique Karg tied for 63rd at 230. Both were competing at the Bentwater Intercollegiate at Bentwater Yacht & Country Club in Montgomery, Texas.
