White completes coaching adds for new Head Coach Chrissy Schoonmaker
HOUSTON – Nyree White, who played at Stanford from 2012-14 and spent time in both the U.S. Women's National Team and New Zealand National Team systems, has joined the University of Houston Softball coaching staff, Head Coach Chrissy Schoonmaker announced Tuesday.
Â
"I couldn't be more excited to be a part of the Houston Softball staff and to help elevate the program to the next level," White said. "I'd like to thank Coach Schoonmaker for the opportunity, and I can't wait to get in the bullpen with the pitchers to get to work!"
Â
"We are thrilled to welcome Nyree to Houston," Schoonmaker said. "Nyree has an extensive and proven background in player and pitching development and we are excited to see her get to work with our bullpen. Her experience both collegiately and internationally as a player will serve our student-athletes well and we look forward to seeing our battery thrive under her direction. Nyree has deep ties to Texas, knows the region well and will be a valuable addition to our coaching staff."
Â
Since 2018, White has been the founder and owner of Brickwall Softball, a company that helps coaching the mental and physical skill sets that student-athletes need to succeed at the highest levels. Among her former students are 2024 NFCA First-Team All-American Emily Kennedy, 2025 D1Softball Freshman All-American Addisen Fisher and 2024 All-SEC selection Ava Brown.Â
Â
With Brickwall Softball, she hosted in-person camps while also creating an online course for developing pitchers that included pitch-specific growth programs, offseason mechanics plans, video analysis and virtual pitching lessons. White will adhere to NCAA regulations in her involvement with the camps prior to joining the Cougars.
Â
From 2015-19, she served as a coach in The Packaged Deal camp, hosting groups of 50-250 players in one of the premier clinics in softball while managing social media to promote the camps.Â
Â
In her playing career, White, who is the daughter of current Texas head coach Mike White, played for Stanford from 2012-14, tossing 160.2 innings in 57 career appearances. An All-Pac 12 Freshman Team honoree in 2012, she spun a 3.88 ERA in 33 appearances, including 16 starts, while earning eight wins and striking out 69. Overall, she finished her collegiate career with an 11-7 record, tallying a 3.53 ERA with 102 strikeouts and three shutouts.Â
Â
From 2010-2011, White played for the USA Softball Junior Women's National Team, helping the team win gold at the 2011 World Championships and the 2010 Pan American Games. She also played for the 2017 and 2018 New Zealand Women's National Teams, representing the Oceania country in both international tours and the 2018 WBSC World Championships.Â
