PREVIEW: rv Houston Volleyball Hits the Road to Start 2025 Season

DURHAM, N.C. – The rv Houston Volleyball team starts its 2025 season as it heads to Duke for a weekend tournament at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Friday. The Cougars will clash with FIU in its season opener at 2 p.m. CT, Friday, before a tilt against Duke (4 p.m. CT, Saturday) and wrapping up the weekend with a match against Bryant at 10:30 a.m. CT, Sunday.

Nine of Houston's 17 players are newcomers to the team this year, including five freshmen and four transfers. Among the freshmen are libero Gillian Pitts, outside hitters Tara Greenberry and Aubrey Sears and setters Tenesyn Frye and Olivia Klimis. Outside hitters Brenya Reid, Halle Schroder, Alyssa Gonzales and setter Lottie Scully make up the 2025 transfer class for the Cougars.
Houston begins its season on the road for the second consecutive season after starting in Omaha, Neb., last campaign. The Cougars won both matches in Nebraska, downing Omaha, 3-2, and rv Washington State, 3-1.
Head Coach David Rehr is entering his seventh season at the helm of the Cougars. In his time with Houston, he's posted a 115-60 record, including a 72-31 record in conference play.
Redshirt senior Kellen Morin rejoins the lineup in 2025 after missing a season due to injury. She starts the year with 240 career blocks, which ranks sixth among active Big 12 Conference players.
Senior Bre Reid enters the Big 12 as one of the league's best attackers. A spring semester enrollee, the Georgetown, Del., native has posted 774 career kills, which ranks tied for ninth among active Big 12 players.
Senior setter Lottie Scully also ranks highly among active Big 12 players. The 2024 America East Setter of the Year has 2,461 in her career, sitting in third in the Big 12 in the category.
Houston starts the year receiving votes in the AVCA Poll. The Cougars are one of 10 Big 12 teams represented in the preseason release and one of seven teams from Texas.
The Cougars excel on the road under Head Coach David Rehr, posting a 44-28 record in matches away from Fertitta Center.
