PREVIEW: Cougars Ready for First Match Up With Warhawks

Houston goes head-to-head with ULM Warhawks at 2 p.m., Sunday
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Soccer team hosts ULM at 2 p.m., Sunday at the Carl Lewis International Complex.Â
The first 50 fans in attendance at Sunday's match will receive a FREE cooling towel and sunglesses to help beat the heat.Â
University of Houston students can claim a FREE student ticket to all Houston Soccer matches by presenting their student ID at the ticket booth on game day.Â
Tickets for Sunday's match against the Warhawks can be found here. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ with Matt Pedersen (play-by-play), Dany Rodriguez (analyst) and Vicente Garcia (reporter) calling the action. Live stats for the match can be found here.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars dominated Texas with a 4-1 victory that included 14 shots and four different goal scorers.Â
Sophomore Blake Hodgson, seniors Cameryn Maddox and Morgan Donohue and junior Kyrsten Kizer each scored a goal while Maddox, sophomore Amanda Adams, freshman Amaris Bumba and freshman Samira Minor each registered an assist.Â
It was the first time Houston defeated Texas in 25 years and the first in regulation. The four goals were the most the Longhorns allowed to the Cougars in the series history.Â

- Houston enters 2025 with a brand new coaching staff as Ben Williams was named head coach of the Cougars in February.
- Graduate Jaden Humbyrd, junior Kyrsten Kizer and sophomore Casey Maddox were named captains for the 2025 season as voted on by their teammates.
- Houston ranks fourth in the Big 12 Conference with 59 shots taken. The Cougars are averaging 19.67 shots per game through three matches.Â
- Houston has eight goals on the season with eight different goal scorers.
- The Cougars feature a revamped roster as they welcome 15 newcomers to the team including 11 transfers and four freshmen.
- Those 11 transfers bring over 300 caps, 17,000 minutes played and 11 conference titles.Â
- Graduate Alex Whitcraft returns for her final season of eligibility and needs just six starts to crack the top-10 in career games started in program history.Â
- Cameryn Maddox needs just three goals to join the program's top-10 in career goals scored.Â

- ULM is 3-2 to start the 2025 season.Â
- The Warhawks defeated Little Rock, 2-1, on Wednesday.
- Head Coach Will Roberts is in his third season leading the Warhawks. He has a 21-12-11 record.Â
- Skylar Blaise leads ULM with three goals on the season.

- Sunday's match will be the first time the Cougars face ULM.
