Houston Women’s Golf adds latest academic honors from 2024-25 season

All three Cougars posted cumulative grade-point averages of 3.50 or higher in their respective majors while competing in more than half of the team's scheduled competitive rounds.
In competition, the trio helped lead the Cougars to NCAA Regional play for the third straight season and three team tournament championships during the regular season, tying a school single-season record.
This was the third straight season and the fourth year in the last five in which three Cougars were named WGCA All-American Scholars.
These were only the latest honors for Kang, Kim and Saint Germain. Earlier this month, the trio earned places on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
ABOUT HYEONJI KANG
Competing in her final collegiate season, Kang received her bachelor's degree in economics in May after transferring from Hawai'i two years ago.
She is a four -time Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar and was a member of the 2023-24 Big 12 Conference Spring All-Academic Team. Kang also was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team three times (2024-25, 2023-24, 2022-23).
On the course, Kang broke into the lineup during the spring season and earned three Top 20 finishes, including a season-best 11th-place finish at the Riverbend Intercollegiate to help lead the Cougars to the team championship.
ABOUT MAELYNN KIM
This marked the first time that Kim was named a WGCA All-American Scholar.
As a sophomore in 2024-25, Kim studied pre-business administration. Competing in 11 tournaments, the Katy, Texas, native finished second on the team with 16 rounds of par or lower, including five in the 60s.
Kim earned five Top-20 finishes with a career-best sixth-place showing at the Riverbend Intercollegiate to help lead the Cougars to the team championship, their third of the season.
Early during the fall season, Kim fired back-to-back 69s at the rain-shortened Schooner Fall Classic to help lead Houston to its first team crown of the season.
ABOUT NATALIE SAINT GERMAIN
Saint Germain is a pre-business administration major and was among the Cougars' most consistent stars this season.
The Prague native finished second on the team with a 72.73 scoring average and was third with 15 rounds of par or lower, including five in the 60s.
Saint Germain enjoyed five Top-15 individual finishes and tied her career best with a fourth-place finish at the Riverbend Intercollegiate to help lead Houston to the team title.
In mid-April, she posted a score of 218, thanks to a 67 in the Second Round, and tied for 10th at the Big 12 Championships at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas. For her impressive performance she was named to the Big 12 Championships All-Tournament Team for the first time in her career.
She was a member of the 2023-24 Spring Academic All-Big 12 Conference First Team and earned a place on the 2022-23 American Athletic Conference All-Academic squad.
Saint Germain also is a two-time Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar (2024-25, 2022-23).
