Svedenskiöld, Kim Lead Women’s Golf at Chevron Collegiate

Svedenskiöld with 66 in Final Round to tie for fourth; Junior Maelynn Kim joins her among Top-10 leaders
HUMBLE, Texas – University of Houston Women's Golf senior Moa Svedenskiöld fired a 66 in the Final Round to lead the Cougars and surge into a tie for fourth at 6-under 210 during the Chevon Collegiate at Golf Club of Houston on Tuesday afternoon.
After opening the tournament with a 73 on Monday, Svedenskiöld lowered her score with each round and saved her best for the final 18 holes.
Starting off No. 11, the Halmstad, Sweden, native birdied three of her first five holes and was never above par for the rest of the day. Svedenskiöld overcame trouble with her lone bogey of the day at No. 2 with an eagle-3 at the 470-yard, par-5 fourth hole and added back-to-back birdies at Nos. 5-6 before closing the tournament with four straight pars.
Junior Maelynn Kim posted a 69 in her Final Round on Tuesday and finished eighth at 4-under 212. Like Svedenskiöld, Kim move into red numbers quickly with birdies on two of her first four holes after starting at No. 10.
The Katy, Texas, native and Seven Oaks High School product added another birdie at No. 16 but endured three straight bogeys at Nos. 1-3 to start her second nine.
Fortunately, Kim returned under par with three straight birdies at Nos. 6-8.
As a team, the Cougars posted the low round of the day at 11-under 277 on the 6,137-yard, par-72 course on Tuesday. In addition to Svedenskiöld and Kim, senior Natalie Saint Germain and sophomore Emilia Väistö posted sub-par rounds.
The 32nd-ranked Cougars rose four places into eighth with a 54-hole total of 866.
#16 North Carolina won the team championship with a score of 846 to finish six strokes ahead of #3 Oregon. #20 Baylor (853), #27 Iowa State (858), #31 SMU (858), #6 Arkansas (865), #43 TCU (865), #39 Indiana (873) and #11 Mississippi State (874) rounded out the Top-10 leaders.
Oregon's Kiara Romero earned medalist honors with a score of 11-under 205. North Carolina's Helen Yeun and Baylor's Malena Castro tied for second at 209 while Texas State's Grace Quintanilla joined Svedenskiöld in fourth at 210.
