Pitts joins Houston after three seasons at SMU
HOUSTON – TK Pitts, a 6'1 senior transfer guard from SMU, will join the University of Houston Women's Basketball program for the 2025-26 season, Head Coach Matthew Mitchell announced Friday.
"TK is an incredible person, and we are delighted to have her join our program," Mitchell said. "She has a magnetic personality that fans will naturally be drawn to. She's a great fit for our style of play because of her productivity on the defensive end – which is the foundation of how we build our team. We value athletes who can make plays on that end of the floor. She is a dynamic defender, gets to the rim and puts pressure on opponents with her explosiveness."
Pitt will reunite with assistant coach Anthony Anderson and transfer forward Amirah Abdur-Rahim after spending three seasons with the Mustangs. She played in 84 career games at SMU, averaging 5.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. She appeared in all 30 games during each of her final two seasons.
A native of Tulsa, Okla., Pitts averaged 6.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game, shooting 45.2% from the field last season. She led SMU with 69 steals, averaging more than two per game, including a career high six steals against Western Michigan (Nov. 12, 2024).
As a sophomore, Pitts averaged 5.8 points and scored a career-high 22 points against Wichita State (Feb. 28, 2024).
Pitts played at Union High School in Tulsa, where she was named the Frontier Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, earned All-Conference honors and was an Academic All-Conference selection.
She was ranked No. 80 overall by All Star Girls Report and No. 123 by Girls Basketball Report and No. 32 at the shooting guard position.
