Panagiotou Breaks School Record, Friday Action Concluded

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – University of Houston Track & Field freshman Evina Panagiotou set a school record in the women's pole vault as the Cougars captured two victories, two second places and one third place to close out Friday's action at the 44 Farms Team Invitational hosted by Texas A&M at E.B. Cushing Stadium.

Panagiotou claimed victory with a program-record clearance of 4.26m, besting Karley King's previous top mark of 4.21m set in 2014. Fellow freshman Kaylee Daniel moved up to No. 5 in the program's all-time rankings with a personal-best clearance of 4.01m.

Senior Adam Mason was the first to cross the finish line in the men's 800m, recording a personal-best time of 1:48.30. His performance moves him to No. 2 in program history, surpassing Yonas Tesfai's 2014 mark of 1:48.40.

In the men's 1500m, freshman Remay Abraha finished second with a personal best time of 3:52.21.

Freshman Addison Hite added another podium finish in the women's 5000m clocking 17:24.44.

Senior Brice Chabot secured second place in the men's 200m with a time of 20.59 (+2.4 m/s).

The Cougars will resume action on Saturday with multi-events starting at 10:30 a.m., field events at 2 p.m. and running events at 6 p.m.
