Swimming & Diving Continues to Lead after Day 2 of Phill Hansel Invitational

Cougars collect one first place time, six podiums
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team completed the second day of competition at the annual Phill Hansel Invitational landing one first place finish and six podiums on Thursday evening at CWRC Natatorium.
The Cougars continue to lead after day two with 936 points followed by Rice (802), Nevada (625), Air Force (557), Florida Gulf Coast (523), Tulane (518), Colorado State (486.5), New Mexico State (365), San Jose State (286), Vanderbilt (230) and New Mexico (207).
Junior Evelyn Entrekin scored the only first place finish of the night in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.75.
Senior Liya Goupil landed a new personal best time to score second place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.13).
Sophomore Alexia Duncan also landed new personal bests in the 100-yard backstroke (53.30) and the 100-yard freestyle which included a podium finish in the 100-yard backstroke.
The 200-yard medley relay team of junior Elizabeth Jimenez, Entrekin, senior Noor El Gendy and senior Jenna Kerkman touched the wall in the third position with a time of 1:39.66.
In the 3-meter diving competition, junior Michelle McLeod landed in the top three with a score of 307.95.
