Cabo Collegiate tees off Sunday morning at Twin Dolphin Club; Individuals to compete at HCU-Colin Montgomerie Invitational beginning Monday
CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico & SUGAR LAND, Texas – The University of Houston Men's Golf program continues its spring season with a pair of tournaments beginning Sunday.
The #50 Cougars will compete as a team at the Cabo Collegiate presented by CFO4Life on the 7,156-yard, par-72 course at Twin Dolphin Club.
Teams will play 18 holes with a 9 a.m. (CST) shotgun start each day beginning Sunday through Tuesday.
Four student-athletes will compete as individuals at the HCU-Colin Montgomerie Invitational beginning Monday morning at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas.
The Cougars enter the Cabo Collegiate after finishing second at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic on Feb. 20-21 at Westwood Golf Club in Houston.
Junior Santiago De La Fuente fired three straight sub-par rounds with back-to-back 69s and tied for second at 8-under 208. Making his Houston debut in a team-scoring event, super senior Campbell Gibson tied for fourth at 209 while senior Austyn Reily tied for eighth at 211.

ABOUT the COUGARS
For the Cabo Collegiate, Houston will be represented by De La Fuente, Reily, Gibson, sophomore Wolfgang Glawe and redshirt freshman Ruben Lindsay.
For the HCU-Colin Montgomerie Invitational, senior Marcus Wochner, super senior Braxton Watkins, sophomore Drew Murdock and redshirt freshman Bryant Hiskey will compete as individuals.
This season, De La Fuente leads the Cougars with a 70.47 scoring average and 14 rounds of par or better. The Mexico City native has opened his Houston career after transferring from Arkansas Tech with six straight Top-15 finishes, including medalist honors at the Border Olympics (Feb. 13-14) and second-place finishes at the Bluejack National Shootout (Sept. 26, 2022) and Bayou City Collegiate Classic (Feb. 20-21).
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete against an elite field at the Cabo Collegiate with 10 of the nation's Top 25 and 13 of the country's Top-50 programs playing.
That group includes #1 Vanderbilt, #2 Texas Tech, #3 Arizona State, #4 Stanford, #9 Florida State, #14 Tennessee, #17 Alabama, #18 Oklahoma State, #19 Arizona, #23 Baylor, #44 Ole Miss, Abilene Christian, Rice and host and 48th-ranked Arkansas.
At the HCU-Colin Montgomerie Invitational, the Cougars will face student-athletes from Weber State, Incarnate Word, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, Stephen F. Austin, North Dakota, Omaha, Tarleton, Missouri State, Nicholls, UT Rio Grande Valley and host Houston Christian.
PAIRINGS
For Monday's first day at the Cabo Collegiate, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from Rice and Abilene Christian.
De La Fuente begins the day at 9 a.m. (CST) Sunday off No. 10 with Reily (No. 11), Gibson (No. 12), Glawe (No. 13) and Lindsay (No. 14) following.
