Women aim for back-to-back meet wins in Lake Charles, men feature deepened squad
HOUSTON – The University of Houston cross country team opens its 2022 schedule with McNeese's Season Opener Friday in Lake Charles, La.

Women's 3k: 6 p.m. CT
Men's 6k: 6:20 p.m. CT

Free for fans and spectators
The women's team returns to Lake Charles as McNeese's Cowboy Stampede meet champions in 2021. From last year's meet winning roster, the women return Erin Rivera and Claire Meyer, both finished inside the top 10 in 2021. For the men, Brandon Seagreaves returns as the top finisher at the 2021 Cowboy Stampede, finishing third overall in the 4-mile meet last season.
Last year, the women ran as a compact group, placing all seven competitors inside the top 15.
The 2022 McNeese Season Opener Meet will feature five total schools, in addition to McNeese, the Cougars will race against Stephen F. Austin, Lamar and Northwestern State.
The men's field will feature successful squads from a year ago. Lamar's men finished fourth at the Western Athletic Conference Championships and McNeese's men won the Southland Conference team title.
