Cougars Post Strong Opening Meet Finish

Houston women finish second, men third at McNeese Season Opener
LAKE CHARLES, La. – The University of Houston Cougars women's cross country team finished second, and the men finished third, in their first meet of 2022 at McNeese's Season Opener at Enos Derbonne Sports Complex on Friday.
Senior Brandon Seagreaves posted the men's best time over the 6k course, finishing second in 17 minutes, 52.3 seconds, while senior Claire Meyer paced the women, finishing third overall in 10:05.2 on the 3k course.
"That was a great start to the 2022 campaign," cross country head coach Ray Stanfield said. "It was nice to start the season off with good results."
In the women's 3k race, Houston's five scoring finishers finished withing 35 seconds of eachother, finishing third, seventh, 11th, 12th and 15th, as the Cougars finished one point off the team leaders Stephen F. Austin.

The men, who finished third, with three competitors inside the top 10, with brothers Branch Cox and Miles Cox finishing eighth and ninth.
