
Annie Kim Leads Women’s Golf at ICON Invitational

Senior shoots 3-under 69 on Tuesday and finishes ninth at 211
HUMBLE, Texas – University of Houston senior Annie Kim fired a during Tuesday's Final Round at the ICON Invitational to tie for ninth and lead the Cougars at the Golf Club of Houston.
Starting her day off No. 4 on the 6,247-yard, par-72 course, Kim drained four straight pars before sinking her first birdie of the day on No. 8. Following a par on No. 3, the Seoul native made birdies on two of the next three holes and added her final birdie on the 510-yard, par-5 15th hole.
Senior Maria Jose Martinez tied for 30th at 218, while redshirt freshman Brooke Morales – making her collegiate debut – tied for 36th at 220. Senior Ariana Saenz and sophomore Nicole Abelar tied for 58th at 226.
Playing as individuals, sophomore Delaney Martin tied for 58th at 226, while redshirt freshman Anna Economon – also competing in her first collegiate event – finished 76th at 249.
The Cougars posted a team score of 290 for the second straight round and tied for seventh with Tennessee and Mississippi at 869.
USC captured the team title with a 54-hole score of 825 to finish 15 strokes ahead of Illinois. Oklahoma State (845), Texas Tech (851), Texas A&M (859) and Purdue (868) rounded out the Top-Six leaders.
USC's Amari Avery won medalist honors with a score of 15-under 201 to finish one shot ahead of Texas Tech's Amy Taylor. Illinois' Crystal Wang and USC's Cindy Kou tied for third at 203, while Illinois' Kornkamol Sukaree finished fifth at 208.
UP NEXT
Following the ICON Invitational, Houston will compete at the MountainView Collegiate at MountainView Country Club in Tucson, Ariz., on March 18-20 before playing in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on March 25-27 at UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
From there, the Cougars take their first step in the postseason when they compete at the American Athletic Conference Championships, set for April 17-19 at Pinehurst #6 – Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C.
