Houston Continues Fall Season at Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

Three-day, 54-hole event begins Sunday at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La.
CHOUDRANT, La. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program continues its 2021 Fall season when it tees off Sunday at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at Squire Creek Country Club.
Teams will play 18 holes each day through Tuesday, beginning at 7:30 a.m., Sunday. The Cougars are part of a 20-team field, which includes UT Arlington WKU, Lamar, Rice, Chattanooga, Troy, Abilene Christian, Francis Marion, Louisiana, Central Arkansas, Southern Miss, Little Rock, ULM, UTSA, High Point, South Alabama, LSU, Middle Tennessee and host Louisiana Tech.
This will be the second of four fall tournaments for the Cougars. Houston finished 13th at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills on Sept. 7 with senior Alexander Frances posting a 2-under 214 to tie for 28th and lead the Cougars.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke and new Assistant Coach Houston Moore, the Cougars will be represented by seniors Alexander Frances, Andrew Gibson and Laurence Crea, junior Austyn Reily and redshirt freshman Jacob Borow.
Junior Marcus Wochner will compete as an individual.
This season, Frances leads the Cougars with a 71.3 scoring average after tying for 29th at the season-opening Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills on Sept. 5-7. The Stege, Denmark, native fired a 67 in the Second Round of that event.
Borow finished second among the Cougars at that event after shooting back-to-back even-par 72s in the final two rounds of the Marquette Intercollegiate.
Crea will be making his season debut with the Cougars this weekend.

PAIRINGS
For Sunday's First Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Louisiana Tech, LSU and Middle Tennessee, beginning off No. 10 at 11:40 a.m.
Crea begins the day for the Cougars at 11:40 a.m., with Gibson (11:50 a.m.), Reily (Noon), Borow (12:10 p.m.) and Frances (12:20 p.m.) following.
Wochner will compete as an individual for the Cougars beginning at 7:30 a.m., Sunday, off No. 10.

UP NEXT
Following the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, the Cougars will tee off at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 4-6 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark. The Cougars will join with their UH female counterparts at that event, which will air on GOLF Channel each day.
From there, the Cougars close out their fall schedule when they compete at The Williams Cup presented by Stitch Golf on Oct. 25-26 at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C.
