- Last time out, Houston stretched its season-high winning streak to eight in the first matchup with Texas Tech, which the Cougars won 3-0, before falling in five sets in the second contest with the Red Raiders. The eight-match win streak marked the third year in a row the Cougars have put together a winning streak of eight or more.
- Starting strong has been no problem for the Cougars this season, as Houston has held a 2-0 match lead in all but two of its contests. Houston is 14-3 when leading after two sets in the David Rehr era.
- Following a promising freshman campaign that saw her emerge as an impact player in the conference, sophomore outside hitter Abbie Jackson has quickly made her presence felt to start the season. Through the first 10 matches of the year, Jackson leads the team and the conference with 4.90 kills per set. During conference play, Jackson leads the league in kills (5.75) and points (6.34) per set.
- In her first season first season wearing a Houston uniform, junior outside hitter Kortlyn Henderson has wasted no time finding her groove in the Cougars' offense. Averaging over two kills per set, the transfer from Iowa Western CC has stepped up her game even more during conference action, averaging nearly three kills a set off a .269 hitting percentage, a mark that ranks in the top 15 in league.
