- Last time out, Houston continued its undefeated run in conference play, sweeping the season series against Tulane, the first time since 2017 that has happened. The two wins over the Green Wave, also improved the Cougars' record to 5-0 at home this season, surpassing last season's total of four home wins.
- Starting strong has been no problem for the Cougars this season, as Houston has held a 2-0 match lead in seven of its eight contests. Houston is 13-3 when leading after two sets in the David Rehr era.
- After averaging a conference-best 5.75 kills per set against Tulane, sophomore outside hitter Abbie Jackson was named The American Athletic Offensive Defensive Player of the Week (2/23). The honor marked the second of her career and third Player of the Week accolade for Houston this season. Through four conference matches, Jackson leads all players in The American in kills (5.75) and points (6.34).
- Joining Jackson with a conference weekly accolade was junior middle blocker Isabel Theut, who landed a spot on the Honor Roll for the first time in her career. Theut led the Cougars averaging 1.75 blocks per set against Tulane. Her career-high 11 blocks in her second outing against the Green Wave tied for fifth-most in program history for blocks in a four-set match.
