Cougars takes down UIW and UTPB
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team defeating Incarnate Word and UT-Permian Basin in its season opener Friday afternoon in San Antonio.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Houston will return home to face conference foe Tulane on Oct. 3 at the CRWC. The meet is slated to begin at 10 a.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars posted seven first-place individual finishes and swept the relays.
- Katie Power and Samantha Medlin each posted two top-three finishes. Medlin finished second in the 1000 Freestyle (10:29.35) and second in the 500 Freestyle (5:03.55). Power won the 50 Free (24.30) and won the 100 Free (53.29).
- Freshman Audrey McKinnon had a stellar collegiate debut, taking second-place in the 400 IM at 4:34.63.
- On the boards it was an all Cougar affair as Houston took four of the top-five spots in the 1-meter led by Katie Deininger with 285.60 points. In the 3-meter Houston swept the event after securing all five of the top-five spots, including a first-place finish from newcomer Jolie Blodgett (273.60).
