Cougars to Compete at AT&T Winter National Championships

HOUSTON - The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team will close out the 2016 portion of their season at the prestigious AT&T Winter National Championships in Atlanta, from Dec. 1-3, while the Cougar divers will travel to College Station, Texas, to face the Aggies in dual meet fashion on Dec. 3 at the Rec Center Natatorium.
Eleven Cougars - Cameron Balkom, Zarena Brown, Ashley Grijalva, Hannah Herbst, Gaby Jimenez, Peyton Kondis, Eleanna Koutsouveli, Laura Laderoute, Sharo Rodriguez, Victoria Roubique and Ksenia Yuskova - will represent the Cougars alongside over 400 other athletes from a host of universities and club programs at the AT&T Winter National Championships beginning Thursday morning.
ORDER OF EVENTS
Thursday, Dec. 1: 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle and 400 Medley Relay.
Friday, Dec. 2: 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke and 200 Free Relay.
Saturday, Dec. 3: 1650 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly and 400 Free Relay.
Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday while Saturday's finals will begin a little earlier at 5:50 p.m. to accommodate the broadcast schedule. NBC Sports will broadcast the meet:

DIVING
The Houston divers will travel to College Station to face off with the Aggies in dual meet fashion. Junior Micaela Bouter was named the American Athletic Conference Diver of the Week after capturing first in both the 1- and 3-meter and finishing second in the platform event. Through three meets, Bouter remains undefeated in the 1-meter springboard. Freshman Lauren Burrell nabbing her first collegiate win in the 3-meter at North Texas dual meet on Oct. 29.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will head to Florida for winter camp training before opening the 2017 portion of their schedule in dual meet action against Incarnate Word on Jan. 10 in San Antonio, Texas.
COUGARS TO HOST AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Houston will host the American Athletic Conference Championships for the second consecutive year as the best swimmers and divers in the league visit the CRWC from Feb. 15-18, 2017. Following the conference meet, the Cougars will look to close the season at the NCAA Championships, to be held March 15-18, 2017 in Indianapolis, Ind.
