PREVIEW: Houston Readies for Temple, UConn

HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Volleyball team will continue American Athletic Conference play with two home matches hosting Temple in a 7 p.m. match on Friday and UConn in a 1 p.m. tilt on Sunday inside Athletics/Alumni Center.
The Cougars (5-18, 0-12 The American) enter Friday looking to snap a 14-match losing streak. Houston fell to both Yale and host Rice in the Rice Adidas Invite II to close out non-conference play and have since opened league play with an 0-12 record.

• Friday's match will serve as "Greek Night" with free pint glasses for Greek members and free pizza for students. Sunday's match is "Camper Reunion/Kid's Day" with free ice cream for kids, while Houston's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be running a canned food drive. With the donation of two canned foods items to SAAC, fans will receive free admission.
• The Cougars, who are 25-45 all-time in The American, trail Temple 3-5 (Sets: 13-20) all-time and are 2-2 (Sets: 7-9) when facing the Owls at home. Houston leads UConn 4-3 (Sets: 14-14) all-time and is a perfect 3-0 (Sets: 9-3) when hosting the Huskies.
• The Cougars are familiar with both opponents having already visited them earlier in league play. Houston fell 3-0 at UConn on Sept. 23 and 3-1 at Temple on Sept. 25.
• Junior setter Keandra McCardell continues to move up in the Houston record books for career assists. She currently sits seventh all-time with 2,642 career assists.
• Houston continues to lead the American Athletic Conference in service aces with 119 total and 1.42 per set.
• Freshman libero Katie Karbo ranks fourth in the American Athletic Conference averaging 4.42 digs per set.
