COLUMBUS, Ohio - University of Houston senior Kyle Pilgrim finished with a 54-hole score of 217 to finish in a tie for 13th following the Final Round of the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon.
Competing on the 7,455-yard, par-71 Scarlet Course at Ohio State Golf Club, Pilgrim earned his fifth top-20 showing this season and his second straight top-15 finish with Sunday's performance.
As a team, the Cougars finished in a tie for sixth with Kent State with a score of 880. No. 18 Georgia Tech claimed a 16-stroke victory over SMU with a score of 848. Host and 38th-ranked Ohio State finished third at 868 with Michigan (869) and No. 29 UNLV (874) among the top-5 leaders.
Northwestern (884), Penn State (887) and Maryland (890) rounded out the top-10 leaders.
Pilgrim was one of two Cougars to finish among the top-20 leaders. Senior Roman Robledo tied for 20th with a score of 220
Junior Blair Hamilton posted the Cougars' lowest score of the day with a 71 to surge into 28th. The Burlington, Ontario, Canada, native drained three birdies and stood at 2-under-par midway through the Final Round.
Sophomore Matt Scobie tied for 29th at 222, while freshman Michael Perras tied for 65th at 231.
Georgia Tech teammates Anders Albertson and Vince Whaley shared medalist honors at 5-under-par 208. Fellow Yellowjacket Ollie Schniederjans and SMU's Bryson Dechambeau tied for third at 210.
REVEILLE CHALLENGE
The Robert Kepler Intercollegiate wasn't the only tournament in which the Cougars competed Sunday. Houston sent a 5-man group to Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas, for the one-day, 36-hole Reveille Challenge.
The Cougars finished seventh on the 7,146-yard, par-72 course with a score of 605. Texas A&M won the team championship with a score of 569 to finish six strokes in front of North Texas. Stephen F. Austin (577), Texas State (593), Houston Baptist (594) and Louisiana-Monroe rounded out the top-six leaders.
Junior Vincent Martino posted an even-par 72 in Sunday's afternoon round and tied for 12th with a score of 146. Freshman Alan De Bondt enjoyed the team's lowest score of the day with a First-Round 71 and tied for 17th at 148.
Redshirt freshman Joshua Gibbons tied for 33rd at 154, while redshirt freshman Papito Gonzalez finished seventh at 157. Sophomore Emmett Oh finished 38th at 159.
Texas A&M's Andrew Lister earned medalist honors at 6-under-par 138, while Blake Pugh of Stephen F. Austin finished second at 140.

Following this weekend, the Cougars begin postseason play when they tee off at the American Athletic Conference Championships on April 26-28 on The Quarry Course at Black Diamond Ranch in LeCanto, Fla.
