HOUSTON â€" Pryce Beshoory and Tony Gil became the newest members of the University of Houston Men's Golf program after recently signing National Letters of Intent, Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke announced Monday.
Both student-athletes will compete as freshmen during the 2016-17 season and have four years of eligibility remaining.
"I am really excited about this class," Dismuke said. "This is one of the best classes we have put together. I looking forward to getting these guys here and watching them develop through the years.

ABOUT PRYCE BESHOORY
Beshoory, who is a native of Pearland, Texas, joins the Cougars after an award-winning prep career at Lutheran South Academy. Standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 155 pounds, he began playing golf at the age of 13 and focused on that sport alone starting in his freshman season.
"Pryce is very athletic with tremendous ability. As a local player, we have watched him continue to grow his game every year, and he has developed into an outstanding golfer.
As a junior during the 2014-15 season, he won the Texas 4A TAPPS state championship with rounds of 62-69, setting a TAPPS Class 4A record with his First-Round score. Earlier that season, he finished second at the TJGT Tour Championship Invitational with rounds of 71-69.
For his impressive efforts, he was named to the All-State First Team and was a member of the All-Greater Houston First Team.
His steady play continued during the summer months. In June, he finished second at the AJGA Ryan Moore Junior Championship in Las Vegas with a score of 212 and follow that one month later with another runner-up finish at the Texas State Junior Championship.
Beshoory â€" pronounced â€" Buh-Shoor-E â€" finished seventh at the AJGA Under Armour/Jordan Spieth Championship in July and recently placed fourth at the Houston Men's City Championship with a 72-hole score of 287.
Before focusing on his golf career, he competed in football, basketball and baseball as a youth and was a member of the 2010 Pearland team that competed at the Little League World Series, playing second base and pitching.
ABOUT TONY GIL
Gil, who is a Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, native, is the latest Canadian star to join the Cougars. In 2015, he helped lead his team to a fourth-place finish at the Southern Cross Invitational and finished fourth at the Junior Orange Bowl.
"By the time he gets here, Tony will be the most experienced freshman we have ever recruited," Dismuke said. "He has played golf around the world and represented Canada well on the national level."
In 2014, Gil â€" who stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 160 pounds â€" played for Team Canada as a member of Golf Canada's Development Squad and captured titles at the CJGA International Junior Challenge and the GAO Investors Group Junior Spring Classic. Gil also finished second at the 2014 Canadian Junior Boys Championship.
Prior to joining the National Team, Gil was a member of the Golf Association of Ontario's Under-17 Provincial Squad. He tied for 13th at the 2013 Ontario Amateur Championship, earned a fifth-place showing at the 2013 Ontario Junior Boys Championship and placed sixth at the prestigious South American Amateur Championship.
