PREVIEW: Cougars to Face Rice Owls

 HOUSTON - The University of Houston swimming and diving team hosts the defending Conference USA champions, the Rice Owls, on Thursday, October 16 at 4 p.m. in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
Houston is 0-1 after losing Saturday, October 11 to the University of the Incarnate Word by a score of 124-117. The diving team had an outstanding showing finishing 1-2-3 in both diving events. The swimming team had four first place finishes. Junior Mackenzie Alspaugh captured two first place finishes, 500-Yard Freestyle (5:11:26) and 400 Yard Individual Medley (4:39:12). Senior Maya Owens finished first in the 100 Yard Butterfly (58.15) and freshman Victoria Padial took first in the 1000-Yard Freestyle (10:40:17).
Houston and Rice will meet for the 48th time in program history. Rice leads the all-time series, 26-21. The last meeting between the two programs was February 1, 2014. The Cougars fell to the Owls in a 253-91 loss.

 Houston will travel to Denton, Texas to face Texas A&M and University of North Texas in an all-day meet on October 31.
