FORT WORTH - With a 3-0 sweep over Grambling State, the University of Houston volleyball stretched its win streak to five matches during the first match of the TCU Nike/Molten Invitational Friday afternoon.
The Cougars improve to 7-1 on the season while Grambling falls to 2-9. Houston held the Tigers to a .023 hitting percentage while the team hit .289. This match marked the fourth time the Cougars have held a team to a hitting percentage lower than .100.
Service aces for Houston added eight points total to the Cougar offense while Grambling committed nine service errors.
The Tigers also gave up points to Houston after getting out of rotation in all sets.
Outside hitters Sarita Mikals and Kadi Kullerkann led the team with nine kills each. Emily Howard followed with six kills.
