Yulia Pakhalina 2001-03
Â• Competed in her third Olympic Games in Beijing, China in the summer of 2008 and won two silver medals. Her first medal was in the 3-meter synchronized diving, where she was paired with current Cougar,> Anastasia Pozdniakova. Her second silver was in the 3-meter springboard. Â• Competed in her second Olympic Games in Athens in the summer of 2004 and won the silver medal in synchronized diving. Earned the bronze medal in the 3-meter individual springboard event. Â• Teamed with Vera Ilyina to win the gold medal in 3-meter synchronized diving at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Â• Set a school record in 2003 by winning her fourth and fifth NCAA individual national championships. Â•â€¯Won 64 of the 66 collegiate diving events in which she entered as a Cougar with the only losses coming during the finals of the NCAA Championship. Â• Received the C-USA Women's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete Award in 2004. Â•â€¯Never lost on the 3-meter springboard, winning all 32 events during her distinguished career. Â• Collected back-to-back Conference USA championships on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards in 2002 and 2003. Â•â€¯Won the C-USA platform diving championship in 2002, the only platform event in which she competed at UH. Â•â€¯Honored as the Conference USA Diver of the Week 11 times in two seasons, including seven times during the 2002-03 season alone. Â•â€¯Won a silver medal during the 3-meter synchronized diving competition at the European Championships in Berlin in August 2002 and captured a gold medal in the 3-meter event. Â• Won a silver medal in synchronized diving at the 2001 FINA World Championships in Japan.

Â• Became just the second diver in program history to be named the NCAA Diver of the Year (2010) after claiming her second-consecutive NCAA title in the 1-Meter and runner-up honors in the 3-Meter. Â• Holds more C-USA Athlete of the Week honors for diving than any other C-USA student-athlete in conference history (19). Â• Her finish in the NCAA Championships 3-Meter and platform events mark the only events she did not win during her senior year (2009-10). Â• Teamed with fellow Cougar diving alumnus> Yulia Pakhalina at the FINA International Swimming Federation Championships to win the bronze in the 3-Meter synchronized diving competition.
