Pozdniakova Wins Silver and Bronze at 30th European Championships

HOUSTON - Former University of Houston diver Anastasia Pozdniakova finished second in the 3-meter diving competition at the 30th European Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The Russia native, took home a silver medal scoring 316.40 points, trailing only fellow Russian Nadezda Bazhina.
Pozdniakova closed out the European Championships with the 3-meter synchronized competition. The former Cougar and her partner Svetlana Filippova won the bronze medal, scoring 307.50 points.
Pozdniakova opened the meet with a third-place finish in the 1-meter diving competition, scoring 282.65 points.
Sophomore diver Julia Lonnegren also participated in the international meet. She dove in the 10-meter platform event, scoring 216.25 points to finish 18th.
Sophomore Reka Kovacs was the lone Cougar swimmer represented at the meet. She opened competition in the 400-yard IM and finished 18th with a time of 5:01.26. Competing for Hungary, Kovacs closed out her run at the meet with a 28th place finish in both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:37.35) and the 200-yard IM (2:20.45).
