Volleyball Takes To The Road Against Marshall, East Carolina

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team will look to continue its winning ways after knocking off C-USA's second-ranked SMU and moving into a tie for third place in the league standings last weekend as they travel to Marshall and East Carolina on Friday and Sunday.
The Cougars (13-10, 7-4 C-USA) begin the weekend against Marshall on Friday. The Thundering Herd is 9-13 on the season and 3-7 in league action. Elizabeth Herman leads the team 332 kills and Elizabeth Fleming has a team-high 867 assists.
Houston is 2-4 all-time against Marshall including a 3-1 win last season at the Athletics/Alumni Center.
The weekend will close out against East Carolina on Sunday. The Pirates are 1-21 this season and 0-10 in conference play. Amanda Lutzow leads the team with 151 kills and Nicole Jones paces the team with 189 digs.
UH holds a commanding 9-1 lead in the all-time series with their only loss coming during the 2006 season.
Lucy Charuk paces the Cougar offense with 259 kills and will be looked to continue her leadership on the court. She has recorded double-digit kills in 13 matches this season and her .370 hitting percentage leads the league.
Amber Brooks is averaging 10.73 assists per set, the third best in C-USA, and Amanda Carson's 411 digs is also third best.

UP NEXT
Following the weekend on the road, Houston will begin a four-match home stand that will culminate with Senior Night on Nov. 14. The Cougars will host UAB, Memphis, East Carolina and Marshall during the two-week span. The season will then conclude with matches at SMU, Tulsa and Rice.
